2012

Well, it has been a year full of blessings, as well as some trying, difficult times. Which has caused me to dig deeper into God, even when I didn't feel like it & my heart just hurt. Ive come to realize how important it is to be thankful & remember all the blessings He gives us everyday, big & small! I would make a list of goals that I hope to reach this next year, but most important is to continue to grow closer to God, which I believe will spill blessings into all the other important areas of my life... Becoming a better wife & mom. As for triathlon/health in general... I really don't know what God has in store. I have really struggle health wise the past couple months... I'm feeling betrayed by my body- but praying the new year will bring resolution & restoration.

House

Finally we have WALLS!  I wasn't overly excited about our house... make that, it's been a while since I've been excited.  But to see a physical structure that we have only visualized from a blue print come to life is so amazing!
The reason things have taken so long is the wet, wet summer we had... that made it very hard to get heavy equipment to where we are building... aka trashing our lane!
Just a bit soft!

Now that things have dried up we look more like this!

Not really sure where this leaves us as a time line... but it doesn't really matter!

Dealing...

It's been over a month now since sylvan & I still haven't come to terms with my disappointing race...

When there's only one race a season it's a lot of eggs to put in one basket, but it's a lot of work dragging kids & inconvenience for those watch my kidlettes.

I put a lot of effort into training, & it has been disheartening.  I'm only running now- working on another distance goal by the end of the year, but I've been really struggling holding pace & motivation.  Teaching spin still, & my favorite, endurance crossfit workouts 3-4 times a week.  Last week after workout I was wondering how many pulls I can do in a row & managed to crank out 7... Post workout mind you. (I'm pretty proud, if it wasn't obvious!).

On top of all this is life & making sure the number one thing stays number one (read:God), & trying my best to love my hubby & kids.  This summer I began a bible study with some girlfriends & we have been reading & doing the work book for Driven by Eternity, by John Bevere.  It has open my eyes to so many thing that are clearly in the bible, but I didn't know.  It's not easy to rewire my thinking for the here & now to try and focus on what's waiting for us.  I highly recommend this book & study even though some parts haven't been easy to look inwards at my self & my motives, etc.

My devotional today talked about Gods will for my life, not my own & if I'm living the life He wants vs. what I want... yikes!  Have I've been asking Him?  No.  Am I gonna start? Of course!

So are you living the life God wants & using the gifts & talents He has given you?

Making lemonade

My dear sweet children are early risers. I used to think Matt was bad waking at 6 am. He has nothing on my lovely daughter who loves to try & wake me up anywhere between 4:30 & 5:30 in the morning... Tries... Usually my feet won't hit the floor until 5:45, on a good day 6. Only once in recent history we all slept in until 7 am- I think it was after coming home from an exhausting weekend at the lake!

So recently I have been dragging my early birds to my sisters gym at 6 in the morning & banging out a crossfit workout. Thus my lemonade- & I don't have to drag them, they are very willing. I must confess that I do miss those early morning sweatfests- it's so nice to get them out of the way!

Joshua 1:9

... Be strong be courageous because God, your God is with you everywhere you go!

Two weeks out from Sylva I finished a 60 km long bike (which felt awful!) then attempted a t-run. I hardly made it 1/2 a km before i had to stop & walk home... Everything hurt so bad I had to sit down! From that day until the Friday before the race I battled nausea, & a wicked sinus infection- I was living on antibiotics & gravol! I really struggled with doing sylvan. We had to cancel the first part of our holiday b/c I couldn't even ride in a vehicle without getting severely sick. After lots of prayers, (thank you), I was at the start line... But it wasn't my day. I had lost a bit of weight those two weeks before & wasn't Sure if it would effect my race. In the water I couldn't catch my breath & really struggled- to the point of almost wanting to stop & rip open my wetsuit b/c it felt like it was getting tighter & tighter around my neck. Such bizarre emotions for me- thank goodness a large portion of the swim was along the boundaries of the public beach area & had ropes... I was breathing every 2 breaths- again very strange for myself. My swim time was my worse ever- I believe 37 min... Awful! On to the bike I knew in the first 10 km it wasn't gonna happen... My legs felt hallow... There just wasn't anything there. I really enjoyed the course- until the last 15 km when a pack of girls flew by me- & drafting like crazy! Really sucked whatever wind I had left, out. In to the run I caught 4 of the girls & passed them on the first loop- but already by the second loop I knew it was only going to get worse. I wanted to stop... again another emotion I'm really not familiar with when it comes to racing. I was freezing cold & couldn't get enough to drink. My lovely sister lent me her long sleeve shirt & that kept the goose bumps away- but all my h2o consumption was catching up with me & sloshing back & forth in my tummy. Then came the cramping... It ran through my left arm, shoulder & into my chest that honestly was unnerving. I had to stop to make it go away... I had such amazing support & I'm not sure I would have finished without them. I'm so blessed in so many ways & am thankful for this race- as hard as the results are still difficult to digest. I would love to race again one day- God willing. But I have commitments to my family & just trying to train is a sport in itself! But I love training... & these two at the finish line are better then any medal!
