Swim #2

Flu week threw a wrench into the training but got into the pool again at noon (thank you Auntie Amber & Logan!).

workout #2
7 x 100 m swim, 50 m kick w/ board
9 x 50 m (odd swim, even drill)
1 x 200m swim w/ pull buoy
5 x 50 m (odd fly, even swim) w/ fins
Total 2000 m-ish (lack of oxygen can really affect my ability to do math)

Hit the playground after naps, spin class tonight. Supper... still haven't figured that out... maybe some of this...

No one ever accused me of winning the "mother of the year award"!

Hello Legs!

Only managed two runs outside so far... and they were pretty sad in the distance department, but Gauge (fur baby) is implementing his "couch to 5 km" program that he does every spring after a winter of neglect and only exercise coming in the form of chasing the snow being thrown from our shovels when we clean the driveway, (I don't get the appeal either, but he comes in after we're done the happiest dog in the whole world).

kind of random, but I REFUSE to watch the movie Marley and Me.  REFUSE.

Back to the point of this post.
Between Gauge's lack of endurance, and it being just a tad too cold for Emily to have her mitts off and eat at the same time, (she's a bottomless pit and if she doesn't have something to eat every 10 minutes it's meltdown city), we haven't managed more then just over 3 km each run.  And I think I might have to use them as excuses but after running all winter on the treddy, my legs are empty after being outside and pushing that stroller... EMPTY!

Didn't get any run in yesterday- Matt managed to puke in (yes "in") my running shoes.  I usually have a strong stomach but I did have a couple dry heaves while trying to clean them out and really asking myself if I'm going to be able to bring myself to wear them again if they still smell like vomit.

Write off

Flu bug hit our house, and hit it hard.

Since Sunday night I've had at least one kid puking.  My days basically involved holding kids, cleaning up vomit, cleaning up diarrhea, washing clothes and carpets.  I have even mastered the art of rocking all three of us in the rocking chair at once... trust me this is not easy!  The only workouts I  got in were out of obligation, teaching spin, and I even missed one of those as I sat in the ER concerned about dehydration in Emmy.

And just like anything life there are lessons to be learned...

1)Diarrhea blow-outs are way easier just to put the whole kid & clothes in the shower and strip them down and wash them off with the hand-held shower head.

2)Don't fear giving your kids suppositories.  Some times they are necessary!

3)And partly related to #2... keep Gravlo and Tylenol suppositories on hand in your house just in case... same thing with pedialite.

4) As much as I miss my never-sit-still-I'm-too-busy-to-cuddle little girl, it sure has been nice to have those cuddles that are few and far between.

5)There was a reason I kept a few extra pull-ups in the house after Matt finished potty training... diarrhea can sure creep up on those little guys!

But currently there is only one puker left, and I'm sure it's nice enough (aka not too windy) to get the kids out for a walk this afternoon- a run if I can somewhere find the energy... stroller is already covered in mud, what's a little puke on the side?
