So...
Last night Guage and I go for our nightly walk on the burm of the the ring road, (aka small town freeway),... one side of the road has a sidewalk, the other side, (where we walk), is just grass and not a lot of any pedestrian traffic. Ever since we have had Gauge we have taken him for walks here and all last summer we would do our runs here as well. I take his leash with me, but usually let him run free b/c he returns on command and is a very happy friendly dog... my point being if he was an aggressive, mean dog that could possibly harm someone else I wouldn't even consider letting him run free.
Just this spring we have noticed a house that has a big mean old German Shepard that could probably eat Gauge for lunch. It never fails as we walk pass this house's back yard, the dog comes roaring off it's deck, barking bloody murder at us and runs full boar into the fence it's contained in. The first time it did this is scared the crap out of Gauge and he wasn't sure what to do. Needless to say, this scare tactic has grown old, and Gauge doesn't even acknowledge that this dog barks at us and just continues his search for new and interesting scents in the grass.
Last night we were enjoying our stroll while passing this house with the crazy dog, when a lady comes out of the back door and starts yelling at me to get Gauge on a leash. I wasn't even 100 % sure that she was talking to me. It didn't make sense that she should be... we weren't provoking her dog, and i doubt Gauge on a leash would change the German Shepard's response to us. So we just continued on. We got half way to turn around and it briefly occurred to me that we should probably take a different route home... but we didn't...
Sure enough, when we passed the crazy dog house again, the same lady is out on their deck waiting for us- and again yelling at me to get Gauge on a leash! Guage is two feet in front of me, behaving perfectly and doing absolutely nothing to aggravate this other dog. I was in disbelief! I didn't know what to say to her, and possibly just b/c of my pregnancy hormones... I couldn't even muster a smart @$$ response that normally would have blurted out of my mouth without me considering the consequences.
I got home upset, (again the pregnancy hormones), and told Brent all about the exchange. He was suddenly disappointed he didn't come with us, b/c he had more then one comment for Crazy Lady. Tonight's walk could be interesting!!!

T Minus 7 weeks...
Had my last appointment w/ Dr. Fourie yesterday, now I'm seeing Dr. Naude, the delivery doctor. It was kind of weird to hear Dr. Fourie say yesterday, "Next time I see you will be in the hospital when the baby arrives." Then later that evening we had our pre-natal pictures and Kristin said "Call me within the week of the baby coming and we'll do the new born pictures." It really is getting close now!
Days off were spent trying to get over what was left of my cold, nesting and visiting. We did get a lot of our yard work done, although I think our grass is a loosing battle between dog urine and our next door neighbours; I know they have a lawn mower, but I don't think they know how to use it in their back yard, which has become a dandelion haven.
Brent and I did hit the driving range (after a lot of pestering from myself), to see if the pregnant lady can still golf (he didn't want to spend money on a round of golf if I couldn't swing a club). And surprisingly my swing isn't effected by the baby bump! In fact I even knocked out a few 200 + yarders... I think I may have impressed Brent! So now if anyone can ever find time in their schedules... cough Kendra, cough Dad... Rolling Greens is call our name!

Run (waddle)!
Last night was absolutely beautiful after I got home from work. Brent ended up taking a sick day due to his cold (the same one that I'm starting to suffer from), so after a quick sandwich for supper and an even shorter visit w/ Mom and Dad who stopped by to check out the baby room, Gauge and I headed outside for a walk.
Walking w/ him really makes me sad and miss our nightly runs we did all last summer. He would take off running then look back at me wondering what's wrong & why I can't keep up. I really appreciate now, the pleasure that I get from running, and how much I miss doing it, especially outside! With the heat of the sun beating down on us I couldn't stand it anymore, so I decided that I was going to attempt running the last 1/4 of our walk and see if I could handle it... even if I only lasted 30 seconds.
I'm sure I looked really goofy and uncoordinated... not to mention SLOW, but I felt great. There was a LOT of pressure on my pelvis and I felt like I had a completely full bladder... even though I just emptied it, but it wasn't too bad. I managed 10 straight minutes... which is the longest I've run since March!
Tonight I'm supposed to go to Britney's dance recital and then hopefully there will be enough time for Gauge and I to attempt another waddle/trot!

Week 31
The days off we busy with an expensive trip to Edmonton, but it was worth it b/c we now have everything but a car seat, a rather essential item, but it has been ordered... just waiting on sears to get their butt in gear!
Sabrina warned us putting the crib together was going to be the hardest piece of furniture we've ever assembled, and had i gotten the ikea one she disapproved of, I probably would have been able to put it together by myself. But the brand we did end up w/ had terrible instructions and even worse pictures to go w/ it... It definitely tested Brent's patience a few times! Our marriage managed to survived the crib assembly and the baby room is pretty much complete... sans baby!
At my check up two days ago my dr. told me my hemoglobin levels have dropped even more, (shocker!), and asked if I have been tired lately.... LATELY... How about since January! She's put me on prescription of iron supplements, we'll see if the energy levels return. My weight gain has stalled since my last visit two weeks ago, but it was kind of nice to see the scale not creeping up for once! The baby has turned head down already; I'm sure it can flip back up since I'm only 31 weeks along. I've definitely noticed the change in kicking location; before it was my lower stomach right around my hips, now it's my ribs! Brent's aunt, who is a nurse, commented this past Sunday b/f my appointment that I look like I've dropped... I'm not sure I've dropped or run out of room for the baby!

week 29...
After this 8 day shift at work only 4 more shifts left before I begin mat leave! Yesterday's rain was nice as it took care of any remaining snow although I know it reeks havoc on the oil field and gives the farmers ulcers this time of year!
We are getting our prenatal pictures taken at the end of May. Brent is/was dead against getting them done; he's not a fan of the poses w/out any clothes, not that I am either, but it's hard to convince him that we can do other poses. The prenatal session comes w/ a newborn shoot so it's not a finical inconvenience to get them done. A girl I used to play fastball w/ in high school is going to do them and her work is amazing! http://web.mac.com/kristinhickman/Site/Welcome.html
