Fear of the Lord

If you desire the praise of man, you will fear man. If you fear man, you will serve him-for you will serve what you fear.
-John Bevere

You know what's hard? Taking a long hard honest look at yourself and your motives. I started "the fear of the Lord" bible study this new year at my church and it, (through the Holy Spirit), has made much needed changes in myself that no new years resolution could bring. It has been hard to look at myself and see just how many areas of my life I've "missed the mark". I cannot recommend this study enough- I don't want it to end! If you can get your hands on Johns book, that's great. If you can watch the DVD sessions, and do the devotional workbook....... SOOOOOOOO much better! I speak from experience- I've read the book before and don't remember getting nearly as much out of it!

One of the big things I've gotten out of it is instead of daily going on Facebook, I've decided to only reply through my email account to things I've been invited to or to respond to a message... No more creeping, etc. why? B/c it had become a HUGE time waster. Not only that I would find myself feeling worse about myself simply by seeing & reading about how totally fabulous someone else's life is. I've been on the fence about facebook right from the beginning. Part of me would love to have a daily mobile upload of my life to share with all my "friends". But of course it never ends there- how many likes & comments = self worth... Right??? Regardless this is no judgement on anyone, this is just me sharing what God has been nagging me to get around to doing. That and posting more often on the biggity-blog...

So with that...
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding" Proverbs 9:10

Oh and one more tid bit, this came from my Joyce Meyers devotional yesterday...... So inspiring!

God, help me to see myself through Your eyes, with the gifts and talents You've given me. I believe that You made me with great potential because You are a great God. Today, I put my confidence in You and believe that all things are possible with You!

Pps: I can't get the spell checker on blogger to work off my iPad, so the giggs up, I'm a totally cruddy speller, (as if you couldn't tell already)!
